Grass-fed Beef

How it Works

Ordering grass-fed beef from LHR Meats is a straightforward process designed to provide you with a hassle-free experience.

The chart above explains the tiered purchasing options available.

Please keep in mind that the cow remains the same throughout each tier. The only thing that changes is the amount of extra work you are responsible for.

Steps

1. Reserve Your Cow: Start by reserving a cow. Please keep in mind that we do have processing dates scheduled already but communicating 2-3 months in advance will guarantee availability and that there are no delays.

2. Place Your Deposit: To secure your order, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required. This deposit confirms your commitment and enables us to begin preparing your order.

3. Customize Your Cuts (Optional): If you have specific preferences for how you'd like your beef cut and packaged, let us know when you place your order. We're happy to help you fill out your cut sheet to ensure your satisfaction.

4. Pay for Your Beef: Your order will be charged based on the hot hanging weight of the carcass. Payment is required in full before your beef is ready for pickup.

5. Pickup: Once your beef is ready, we'll notify you to schedule a convenient pickup time.

7. Enjoy Your Premium Beef: From juicy steaks to savory roasts, savor the incredible flavor and nutritional benefits of grass-fed beef with every meal. Share the experience with family and friends, knowing you've chosen a superior product from LHR Meats.

Fastforward to 2023, Richard is still working to bring this same quality of beef to locals in South Louisiana.

FAQs

Where are you located?
We are located a few miles north of Welsh, Louisiana.
How are your cows raised?
We frequently rotate our cattle to fresh pasture to provide fresh new growth as forage and allow the previously grazed paddocks to regenerate.
Is LHR Meat's beef organic?
The only thing our cows have access to is grass.
Do you buy cattle from the sale barn?
We never buy cattle from a sale barn because we raise them on our ranch. From birth to beef, LHR maintains ethics and quality standards.
What is Regenerative Agriculture?
Regenerative Agriculture is a natural approach to reversing destruction of soil caused by modern industrial agriculture. Regenerative agriculture aims to restore vitality in soil carbon and microbial diversity. This improves nutrient cycling, water infiltration, mitigates effects of climate change, and ultimately strengthens the vitality of agricultural soils.
Why does your beef taste so different?
Our beef tastes so different because our cattle enjoy a stress free life, where they are frequently rotated to fresh grasses. Our cattle are built with grass, instead of grains like a feedlot.
What kind of cows do you raise?
Red Angus cross
Do you sell in any stores?
Our beef is currently marketed under the Bon Vivre label and is sold in a store called Lapin Lagniappe in Iowa, Louisiana.
What is the Cajun Prairie?
The Cajun Prairie is an ancient ecosystem that was once home to thousands of bison that supported Native Americans.
What is the goal of your ranch?
Our goal is to work with Nature to produce the cleanest and most nutrient dense produce possible. We not only wish to do this on our ranch, but once we are able to figure the system out entirely, we will begin helping other ranchers that are interested in Regenerative Agriculture as well. After the lockdowns and supply chain disruptions, it became clear that building local resiliency in our food supply chain is most important.
